Steering Committee Meeting with CNV International

On 15 th January 2015, CLC has conducted the thirds Steering Committee Meeting at the CLC’s office, Phnom Penh, Cambodia in order to reporting about the developing and progressing of implementing project activity. Especially, this meeting as conducted for discuss and talking about the decent works and core labour standards in Cambodia, between representative of CNV-I as Mrs. Marie Jose head of CNV-I and Steering Committee of CLC-CNV-EU, during the mission for visited the CLC and CLC’s affiliate. There were 17 and 03 female participants including Steering Committee member and CNV for this meeting. This meeting was started from 2:00pm to 4:20pm.

1. Objectives:

  • Strengthen the relationship between the CNV-I and the Steering Committee Members; and
  • Exchange the opinion between the CNV-I and the Steering Committee Members on project work related with rights and core labour standard in Cambodia.

2. Expectation:

  • Improve the relationship between CNV-I and Steering Committee members to be more friendly
  • Improve the project implementation more effectively through comment and feedback.

Mr. Tun Sophorn, chairman of steering committee said that, today is a special meeting because representative of CNV-I come to joint with. He continue that, the meeting aim to talk about the process of project implement and plan in the future with CNV-I. He also suggest to all of participant have more talking with CNV-I around the project about the core labour standards in Cambodia.

Mrs. Marie Jose, Head CNV Internationaal has any opinion with steering committee members in the meeting. She said that, I want to know the process of the project implement. I have enjoined with the activity of CLC for a week with the workers. She express that, I am so sorry that the president of CNV cannot joint with this meeting.  She continues that, I have visited with other sector of CLC’s affiliate. After she visited with CTSWF, She said, I see that they have more challenge in their demanding, they have less success in their demanding. She adds that, yesterday I have to visit the workers of construction (BWTUC). The workers in this sector have more problems with their work. And this morning, I have to visited the garment workers and I have to meet employer to talk about the work condition to have a better than before for the workers. At the last weaken, I also to work with CLC because of it is important that CLC make the personal financial support and it make to have sustainable that it relate with membership. She continues that, I am waiting to see your project implement that CLC is the implementing.
