CNV-I, CLC and its CLC’s affiliates share similar visions, missions and overall objectives. Building on the outcomes of their fruitful partnership, which dates back to the year 2000, these partners have now come together to propose a new collaborative action titled: “Promoting Core Labour Standards in Cambodia – towards a decent job for Cambodian workers”.
Support to action that promote the implementation of core labour right and standards, include the right of worker to form associations, unions, engage in collective bargaining with a particular focus on the right of women employees.
Goal and Objectives
Strengthening the role of civil society in Cambodia in promoting human rights, democracy and the rule of law, supporting the peaceful conciliation of workers’ interests, and consolidating participation and representation of CLC, its affiliates, and its allies in the promotion and protection of Core Labour Standards, the rights of women workers, and the rights of young workers, thus promoting ‘decent’ jobs.
CLC and affiliates’ leadership, CLC and affiliates’ staff, CLC and affiliates’ activists, members and supporters, CLC and affiliates’ gender committee, CLC and affiliates’ youth committee, other women, other youth, Government representatives, Employers’ confederations, federations and unions, NGOs, other Cambodian Non State Actors, and international and regional organisations.
Strengthen the institutional capacities of CLC and its affiliates and establish and operate multi-stakeholder alliances and engage in the joint promotion and protection of Core Labour Standards in Cambodia, with emphasis on the right of workers to form unions and / or associations and to engage in collective bargaining and on the rights of women and youth employees.
The partnership has formulated the Action’s “expected results” as follows:
Result 1: CLC’s and its affiliates’ institutional capacities strengthened.
Result 2: CLC, its affiliates, and their allies establish and operate multi-stakeholder alliances targeting the promotion and protection of i) Core Labour Standards; 2) the rights of women workers; and ii) the rights of youth workers.
Result 3: Enhanced awareness of Core Labour Standards and better practicing of workers’ rights by actual or potential Cambodian workers, with emphasis on the right of workers to form unions and associations and to engage in collective bargaining.
Result 4: Enhanced awareness of the rights of women workers and better practicing of these rights by actual or potential Cambodian women workers, in particular in areas of advocacy and lobby for the ratification of ILO conventions 183 and 189, organizing of women’s groups, negotiations on women workers’ rights, and conflict resolution where women workers’ rights are violated.
Result 5: Enhanced awareness of the rights of young workers and better practicing of these rights by actual or potential Cambodian young workers, in particular in areas of advocacy and lobby for the implementation of ILO conventions 138 (minimum age) and 182 (child labour), organizing of youth groups, negotiations on young workers’ rights, and conflict resolution where young workers’ rights are violated.
